Star-studded Cancun in the Summer of Sony

It's that time of year again, when the Summer of Sony brings a host of celebrities into Cancún. So who is here?


George Clooney is on hand to promote his latest film, 'The Ides of March'. His press call was on Tuesday, though he took time out to meet fans too.

This time last year, if you recall, Angelina Jolie was in the city with four of her children. This year, it was the turn of husband, Brad Pitt, who brought two of his sons, Maddox and Pax. While dad had to do 'boring' stuff, like publicize his movie, 'Moneyball', the youngsters made the most of the beach. They appeared to be having a great time, boogie-boarding in the Caribbean Sea, under the watchful eye of their uncle, Doug Pitt.

Meanwhile, Brad Pitt met up with co-star Jonah Hill for the photo calls. Jonah was looking trim, after recently undertaking a fitness drive. He told reporters that, though working out and eating more healthily wasn't the most 'fun endeavour' that he had ever done, he had figured that it was important.



Adam Sandler and Katie Holmes have also been here. Their comedy film, 'Jack and Jill', was in the spotlight here.



In case you're wondering, the cardboard cut out is of Adam Sandler in drag. He plays both Jack and Jill in this movie. Like Brad, Katie Holmes also made this a family event. She brought five year old daughter, Suri Cruise, with her to enjoy the delights of Cancún.

Also amongst the stars was Cameron Diaz, who was here to promote 'Bad Teacher'.



The event has been a whirlwind of press photo calls, interviews, parties and celebrity attended breakfasts or luncheons. In order to catch the happenings, as they are called, it's worth checking out the Summer of Sony Twitter feed.

The Summer of Sony is Over :(

For two weeks, Cancún has been awash in the hottest A-list stars of the latest Sony Pictures movies.   It's been the Summer of Sony, which saw such luminaries as Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Mark Wahlberg, Christina Aguilera, Eva Mendes, Adam Sadler, Kristen Bell, Dwayne Johnson and Seth Rogen, descend upon the beautiful city.

Angelina arrived, to the frenzy of paparazzi cameras, with her four eldest children.   Apparently she intended to create a family holiday of the event, sharing the sights of Cancún with youngsters, Maddox, Zahara, Pax and Shiloh, while poor Dad, Brad Pitt, had to stay home with their twin babies.   The troop were soon off to sample the delights of Cancún's Wet'n'Wild attraction, with sneaky cameras picturing them on the water slides.





Angelina did pause in the tour of attractions, in order to promote her latest Sony Pictures movie, 'Salt'.   Meanwhile, the world's press seemed more interested in the fact that she'd got a new tattoo on her left arm; as well as speculating on whether or not she's pregnant again.   For the record, she told the press in Cancun that she's not.

It was also a family occasion for Christina Aguilera, who was here with her husband, Jordan Bratman, promoting 'Burlesque'.   This is her first feature length movie.  




Christina Aguilera is no stranger to Cancún, having played at Coco Bongo a couple of times.  On this occasion, the 'Burlesque' media trail led straight to a huge party.   The theme, as might be expected, was Burlesque.

Meanwhile, it seemed like everywhere you looked in the city, more celebrities were having it large.   There was also some sizzling celebrity announcements, like the fact that Andrew Garfield will be the next Peter Parker, in the Spiderman movie being filmed in 2011.   Happy days.
